Alliance Laundry Systems (ALS) names Thailand key market for Southeast Asia expansion
Thailand is emerging as a key growth market for global commercial laundry equipment provider Alliance Laundry Systems (ALS), which reaffirmed its regional commitment at the Wealth Investment 2026 conference, the 7th Thailand Wealth Conference, held under the theme "Global Vision, Thailand Opportunity."
According to ALS Chief Executive Officer Mike Schoeb, the strongest growth both in Thailand and globally is occurring in the vended laundry segment, which includes self-service laundromats and shared laundry facilities within residential developments. ALS currently holds approximately 70% market share in Southeast Asia and 69% in Thailand, and operates across more than 150 countries worldwide. The company completed an IPO in 2025 and continues to invest in research and development focused on improving speed, capacity and quality of its commercial laundry technology.
Several factors are driving industry growth in Thailand. Longer rainy seasons linked to climate change have made outdoor drying less reliable, while ongoing urbanisation in Bangkok and other major provinces is creating new opportunities for both the company and potential investors. Thailand's property sector, particularly the super-luxury residential segment, is also expanding, with premium amenities becoming important selling points.
The silver economy is another area of interest for ALS, with senior living facilities, nursing homes and wellness hospitality identified as sectors that may generate demand for professional laundry solutions. Mr. Schoeb noted that clean linen is mission-critical for such facilities, making them a strong fit for ALS products.
The company sees further opportunity in providing consumers with larger facilities, higher-capacity machines and more conveniently located laundromats.
For business owners, property developers and investors operating in Thailand, the commercial laundry sector represents one of several consumer service industries where demand is being shaped by urbanisation, demographic shifts and lifestyle changes. As with any business venture in Thailand, understanding the legal framework around business registration, foreign ownership and investment structuring is an essential first step.
