Frequently Asked Questions
Accounting, tax and company-setup questions for businesses in Koh Samui and Bangkok, Thailand.
What does SLF Accounting do, and where are you based?
SLF Accounting Co., Ltd is an accounting and tax firm based at The Plaza Green in Bophut, Koh Samui, Thailand. We provide bookkeeping, VAT and tax filing, payroll, audit support and company registration for local Thai businesses, expats and foreign-owned companies. We serve Koh Samui clients from our office, and Bangkok clients remotely and on-site.
What languages do you work in?
English, Thai and Chinese. Our team can keep your books and explain your taxes clearly in any of the three — which is why expats and Chinese-invested businesses often choose us.
How much does your accounting service cost?
Fees depend on your company's size, number of transactions, whether you are VAT-registered and whether you have employees. Monthly bookkeeping packages start low for small companies and scale with volume. Contact us at office@slf-accounting.co or +66 82 447 8244 for a clear quote.
Can a foreigner or a Chinese company register a company in Thailand?
Yes. Foreigners commonly set up a Thai limited company. Most service businesses use a Thai-majority structure, while some qualify for BOI promotion or other routes that allow majority foreign ownership. We handle the DBD registration, tax IDs and VAT registration end to end, and advise on the best structure for your case.
What taxes does a Thai company pay?
The main ones are corporate income tax (on net profit), VAT (if registered), and withholding tax on certain payments. Companies with staff also handle payroll tax and social security. We calculate, file and remind you of every deadline.
Do I need to file VAT every month?
If your company is VAT-registered, yes — VAT returns are filed monthly with the Revenue Department, normally by the 15th of the following month. VAT registration is required once annual revenue exceeds the threshold, and optional below it. We manage the registration and the monthly filing for you.
What is withholding tax (WHT)?
Withholding tax is tax deducted at source on certain payments — for example services, rent or professional fees — and remitted to the Revenue Department, usually monthly. We prepare the withholding certificates and file the returns so you stay compliant.
How does social security (SSO) work, and who pays it?
If you have employees, both the employee and the employer contribute a percentage of wages to the Social Security Fund each month, up to a capped amount. We calculate the contributions, file with the SSO office and keep your employee records in order.
Do I have to visit your office?
No. We work with Koh Samui clients in person or remotely, and with Bangkok and other clients fully remotely. Documents are handled digitally and meetings can be by video or in person.
Can you take over the bookkeeping for my existing company?
Yes. We regularly take over from a previous accountant or in-house team. We review your current books and prior filings, fix any gaps, and continue your monthly accounting and tax filing without disruption.
